We went for a family hike at Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The area offers many different trails, some paved and some more natural. This allows for different levels to enjoy, bikes and dogs welcome. The Sunday we went it had recently rained and several trails were flooded, so keep that in mind if you are planning a trip. There is plenty of parking, restrooms and trashcans. Since it was a nice weekend afternoon there were quit a few people there and it didn’t feel crowded. There are so many different options that you can enjoy your time and not be in a crowd.
The area also has a team building ropes course, which I would love to do! If anyone in the area is interested you can find it online to book your time. There is also an amphitheater where they do some great shows. (schedule also online)
We will definitely go back and explore more, we walked about 3 miles and the dogs had a blast. There are creeks, hills, trees galore and so much to see. It is a must for anyone who loves to hike or walk. I can’t wait to see the area in the summer with all of the trees filled in and plants full.
I love to hike and explore the parks and trails near us. We have been wanting to try some since we moved and finally found the time over the weekend. We took the dogs and went to Bonnie Wenk Nature Trail. It was close by and had great rating/reviews.
It is still under some construction but the main path is open as well as the restrooms, playground and dog park. The trail is great because it is wide, paved and clean. This allows plenty of room for people to pass by without disturbing each other. The full trail is 4.5 miles but it is not a loop. We did about 2 miles total with the dogs. When I walk on my own I go much faster and farther but the dogs are little slow and their short legs get tired. They need their exercise too so it was a great time to all be together outdoors and get some exercise.
There is great scenery and large open spaces. The dog park looked well maintained but very busy when we were there. All the facilities were new and still well kept, the playground looked like great fun. (Even for me)
I would definitely recommend this area for families, runners, bikers and walkers/joggers. The path is great for strollers, wheelchairs, young children, dogs and beginners. We will go back for sure.
We just got back from a vacation. It is rare for us to take a week together, we get short periods of time but with our jobs it’s hard to coordinate. Plus you know….life. A lot of other things are going on in our lives but we still mad it happen. It was great too, we got to spend time away and for 4 days I had no service and it was THE BEST! I totally recommend it. I missed nothing.
We went to Hot Springs, AR, Nashville, TN and Byrdstown, TN/Dale Hallow Lake. My family has been going to the lake since before I was born. My dad went with his family, then took my mom, then us and now we continued the tradition and now shared it with my niece. Being on the lake are some of the best memories from growing up, it is my favorite place. We spend our days on the water and evenings eating and talking but mostly laughing about something.
I stayed active with water sports, chasing my niece, walking and so much more. I used to love to just lay around on vacations but now I enjoy getting up early having coffee and getting things going. I know not everyone is like that! I love to see all the sights and being a “tourist” so yes in Nashville I was just that. We went to the Country Music Hall of Fame, The Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium and walked all over down town. It was so fun.
Hot Springs was beautiful, it was just a one night stop but it was gorgeous and I would definitely go back. We had a great dinner at a cute little brewery on the hill and a morning on the golf course.
Where are you favorite places to go?
My husband and I have always loved going to baseball games together. He is Cardinals fan and I am a Reds fan, the rivalry is the best. We have gone to several games together over the years and enjoy sports in general. We recently went to the San Antonio Missions baseball game and had a blast. If you are local and haven’t gone you really should and take the entire family.
The stadium has easy parking, clean and tons of food to pick from. The tickets are super affordable and the atmosphere & fans are great. It happened to rain the entire time we were there but we still had a great time. Everything is affordable from tickets, drinks, food and even the merchandise. We had great seats but from looking around it appeared all seats would give you a great view of the game.
The website is very easy to navigate to see the schedule and get tickets. It shows all the promotions and other fun stuff going on as well.
Head out for a fun day or night out!
