February is my favorite month for many reasons, one of them being Valentine’s Day! It is my favorite holiday. A lot of people ask me why and well it’s simple. I enjoy celebrating love!
It doesn’t have to be couples only. I love so many people in my life and I enjoy celebrating them and our relationships. Lifelong friendships that have lasted my cross country moves, family that is there no matter what, people I have met along my journey that impacted me even if for a short time, new friendships that are growing even in these crazy times, and so much more.
I don’t like when people say it’s just a made up holiday. Well are all these relationships and people you love made up? Absolutely not! Every relationship we have is for a reason, short or long. I am going to do what I can this week to celebrate them all.
You never know what just a simple message can do for someone’s day, week, month, or year! You can impact people with a simple hi, hello, how are you, I miss you, I hope you have a great day, I love you, and so much more. Take this opportunity to focus on all the love in your life no matter where it comes from.
So much has been happening and I have been neglecting my blog. I can hardly find time in the day to shower so actually sitting down to write anything longer than a text is hard. I LOVE being a mom and worked so hard to become one that I truly let everything else go. Even some house work. I know people find that shocking but I only clean after she goes to bed or naps.
The reason I am here is to share this great face mask with you. I feel like I have huge pores and I do everything I can to minimize them and keep them clean. This Black Mask is charcoal based and peels off. It comes with an applicator (score!) I tried it this week and it peeled off easy and I could see it cleaning out my pores. My skin looked even and so clear and still days 3 days later. You should use the mask 2-3 times a week and after cleansing your face with warm water to open the pores for best results.
You can get it on Amazon for a steel so check it out and let me know if you love it like I do!
Seriously guys try this mask!
It has been awhile since I gave an update on the fun house happenings around here. When we moved in I thought our landscaping looked nice. As time went on I realized there was just way too much planted in the space. I didn’t want to immediately remove anything until I went through a full year to see what happened each season.
We have now started the removal process! I started with some large bushes, pots left all over, dead plants, and plants that just had spread way to much. I am starting a little at a time so that we don’t end up with just empty flower beds because that doesn’t look great either.
We also removed the raised garden beds, it was falling apart and just always over grown. I do not garden and well I would love to it just doesn’t fit into our lives right now.
Our landscaper is so great to work with and works quickly. We are so thankful for his work because there is no way we could get this done in one day.
From the moment I got pregnant my gums have been bleeding. I have talked about dental health before and I really try my best to do everything I can for my dental health BUT this has been awful. The cause is from the change in hormones in your body which increases the blood flow to the gums. With all the hormones from IVF and pregnancy it came on very quickly for me.
Swollen gums and bleeding – yuck!
So what can be done about it?
- Brush your teeth at least 2 a day using a soft bristle tooth brush
- Floss – recommended once a day but I just try to do it as often as I can
- Warm salt rinse – 1 tbls salt to 1 cup of water
- Keep up your dental visits (recommended every 6 months)
- Good nutrition will also help
It may not seem like a big deal but gingivitis can turn into periodontal infections which can cause preterm labor. This is a serious thing to pay attention to.
If you follow along on Facebook and Instagram you know that last Monday I started a 31 day plank challenge! I have completed 8 days and I can feel my core getting stronger. I love the dynamic moves and the daily challenge.

I want to share a great new business with you. Blume Box Co, this is a local small business for flower preservation. Her specialty is taking your gorgeous wedding flowers and creating a beautiful unique way to keep your flowers forever. It is a piece you can proudly display in your home for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
She started her business when she was getting married herself. She was looking for someone to preserve her bouquet and was unsuccessful, so she looked into how to DIY. After many failed attempts she has come up with the perfect process and is sharing her skills with other brides.
It takes 2-3 weeks to get your completed box. She will arrange pick up of your bouquet within 3 days of your wedding. After a 1-2 week drying process each individual flower is sealed to lock in its color, now comes the fun part, artfully creating your box. The cost starts at $150.00. Visit her website and contact her for more information.
You will not be disappointed with her customer service and final product. Next time I have a memorable floral arrangement or bouquet she will be my first call!
January I have been doing all morning workouts and it has been great. I plan to keep this schedule up. I do spinning, barre, yoga and strength training. This allows me more time after work for spending time doing other things or use my home gym in the afternoons.
Spinning is something I started doing in October when I first visited B Well Health & Fitness, here in Boerne, it always leaves me sweaty and feeling great. Each class is different and challenging. I am really trying to get to a place where I can do more weight on the bike. Check out their website and book your class today https://bwellhealthandfitness.com/
Barre is a great class that really isolates muscles that can change your shape. Every time I feel like I find a new muscle that leaves me shaking. I love it, if you haven’t tried a Barre work out you really need to. It is low impact and a great class to start your fitness journey.
Yoga is one of my favorite things that allows me to focus on my breath and really stretching my muscles. I am always surprised at the poses and balance I have. I am really trying to get some more advanced poses under my belt, so here’s to practice.
Strength and weights are something that is a push for me. I don’t have the most upper body strength so using the weights to really push my arms, shoulders and back. I can really see a difference in my shoulders and arms when I look in the mirror so hopefully with consistency the changes will continue.
I will share my home gym with you in an upcoming post. What are some of your favorite group workout classes?
We celebrated Sean’s Birthday just before Christmas. We went to X Golf San Antonio and had a great time. It is a virtual golf experience. We golfed Pebble Beach and boy was it hard for me lol
The screen gives you a lot of information so you can golf as if you are really on the course you select. We took our own clubs but you can rent some there. They have a full bar and food from Mellow Mushroom just a few businesses away. I would recommend this for anyone who loves to golf.
They offer leagues, lessons and so much more. We have gone back since and had another great experience. The second time I did much better as well, I felt a little more prepared. You can reserve your time slot by calling or visiting their website. http://www.goxgolf.com/
We had a great time and the service was the best. The employers and manager are so friendly and very helpful with the equipment and system. Let me know how your experience is!
Another year over and another new beginning. I have always set New Year’s Resolutions and this year is no different, however this year they are focused on mind and soul. I am focused on attending church regularly, spending time with the people who mean the most to me, being positive and living life to it’s fullest.
Health is more than just a number on a scale or food you are eating. You have to focus on your mental health as well and this is my focus for the year.
We enjoyed a nice dinner out for the last day of 2017 at J Alexander. This was our first time at this restaurant and we had a very nice experience. The Service was wonderful and the food was yummy. I had the salmon and he had a steak, of course.
I am looking forward to what 2018 has in store of me. I am hopeful for positive change and mindful awareness. What are your goals or resolutions for the year?
Christmas this year was a little bitter sweet for me. It was the first time we didn’t see our families in the eight years we have been together. With all of the changes and traveling in November it just wasn’t possible this year. We were all together in spirit and talked on the phone but it just wasn’t the same.
We made the best of it and spent our time together enjoying some rest and new traditions. I had been wanting to visit the Don Strange Christmas lights here in Boerne and on Christmas Eve after the candle light service we headed out to see them. It was very impressive, driving through tunnels of lights and seeing all of the moving lights. They had a police car chasing a vehicle, golfers, gingerbread men throwing a ball and so much more. There is also a little village you can visit with shops and sweet treats. I loved that we waiting until Christmas Eve to drive through.
Christmas day was spent at home in our pajamas all day. We slowly opened our gifts and grilled steaks for dinner. It was a nice way to enjoy our first holiday in 8 years on our own.
