July 1 I started a 28 day #barre3anywhere challenge put on by Barre3. This is a nation wide Barre studio that offers online classes as well so you can do them anywhere even if a location isn’t convenient for you. This 28 day challenge involved 6 videos a week and one rest day. The videos ranged in length from 10 minutes to 30 minutes but don’t let that 10 minute number fool you, some of those were the hardest and left me really feeling the shake.
You can really do them anywhere. I did most of the videos on my lunch break in our living room. It was a great break from the computer and re-energized me for the rest of the day.
There are so many variations that no matter what your level or injury status is so you can do these workouts. I did have to do variations since I am pregnant and as the bump grew through the month some of the positions did get a little tricky. It was great to really work on my lower back and leg strength. You can add weights for added strength training for your arms as well.
Check out their website to see if there is a location near you and if not you can sign up for a free online trial and you can do these workouts anywhere. There is no excuse to not give it a try and see the transformation you can make in a short period of time.
Summer is here and so is my new FabFitFun Box! It’s so fun to open the box never knowing what fun new products are inside. I am going to share my favorite products form the box.
Generation Clay Brightening Purple Clay Mask. This mask is filled with Davidson plum, a gentle, natural version of skin-exfoliating alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA). Making it a great option to rejuvenate your skin and dull those dark circles under your eyes. Additional benefits include witch hazel to extract excess oil, vitamin E, an antioxidant that protects against free radicals, and desert lime, an Australian citrus fruit that boosts hydration, assists with the absorption of antioxidants and increases collagen production. I could see a difference after one use and absolutely recommend giving it a try.
I have talked about the Coola brand before. This is a great product to use after putting on your make up for the day. It sets the makeup and has SPF in the spray. It is refreshing and really helped my make up stay on all day.
You guys, these SOL Janeiro products are amazing! The smell alone is unmatched, even my husband has commented. The shower gel lathers great and leaves no residue on your skin. The Bum Cream is great for tightening skin, smoothing bumps and moisturizing after a great shower scrub. Being pregnant I love to also slather this body cream on my growing bump to help with stretch marks. On their website you get 10% off your first order so don’t hesitate!
The Grace & Stella All Day Rose spray is so refreshing and hydrating. In this Texas heat a spray to start off the day is perfect. I use it on my face, neck and chest to refresh and hydrate my skin in the morning or after washing my face. It’s gentle the subtle rose scent is calming.
Invisi Bobble hair rings are so versatile and comfortable. They allow me, someone with long hair, to pull my hair up without leaving a “dent” or line in my hair that has to be re styled. They also do not pull at all so the comfort is great to last all day or through that tough workout.
I could go on about all of the products but these are the stand outs to me. I love being introduced to new products and see how they work. Try these and let me know what you think.
I chose to register for our little one with Baby List. I did this because I don’t like what one or two stores have to offer and Baby List allows me to register for anything anywhere. It is so easy, there is a button at the top of my browser and I simply click “add to babylist” and boom done.
When viewing the list it’s just like any other registry with all the items organized by type BUT it also shows the different stores and prices you can purchase the item, including amazon and websites.
I have been searching different items online and when I find the one I want I simply add it to the list. When I started my registry I got a free Hello Baby Box from Baby List that had many sample products in it for me to try. I really like this feature because as a first time mom it opens my eyes to different brands and products I may not be aware of. It also allows me to try things before committing. The box also comes with cards you can put in a shower invitation and you can get more for free on the list as well.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
The Noobie Box is a free, yes free, pregnancy box that provides samples of products that are great for mom’s to be. The box does change over time and currently below is what I got in mine.
- Aquaphor Baby Ointment
- Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume
- Chicco Pacifist
- Cuties set of 5 diapers
- Lansinoh breastfeeding set (nursing pads, milk storage bags and lanolin),
- UpSpring Milkflow Powder drink mix
- Prevail set of 2 liners
- WaterWipes baby wipes.
They also offer Baby Gift Boxes & Parent Gift Boxes. Each box is catered to the age of the baby/child which offers activities and products that are great for the growing little one. You can get a subscription or purchase a single box.
BUT don’t miss out on getting the FREE pregnancy box. See the link below, just pay shipping.
I recommend getting yours because why not? It is a great way to find out about products and try them out before committing to a full case or something you will not use. As a first time mom is it so nice to find out different brands and products because I have no clue to where to start on most things.
I don’t know why it took us so long to go check out Town Lake Recreation Area, it’s just down the road and we have driven by so many times saying we need to check it out. So finally, we made it. It is just across from the high school and easily accessible off of 75.
The lake is large with fountains, fishing pier, countless ducks, pavilions, restrooms, water fountains, grills, lighted trails, 18 hole frisbee golf course, volley ball courts, horse shoe pitching courts and playgrounds. I mean what more could you want! Its a great family park with something to do for everyone.
We walked over 3 miles enjoying all of the scenery and wildlife. I definitely recommend planning a trip to check it out. The pavilions can be reserved ahead of time for parties.
I will absolutely be adding this to my list of places to walk and recommend to others! Check it out.
I was so excited to go see the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. From McKinney the drive was pretty easy and we went on a Sunday. The parking can be tricky so just pay attention as you get closer. I also recommend buying your tickets and parking pass prior to arrival. It made it so easy. You can go to the website and purchase everything you need and doing this gives you a parking discount. You have a large window of time to use the tickets as well if plans change last minute.
It was a gorgeous day and we walked the entire property. There is so much to see and as the seasons change so do the gardens. There are great spaces for picnics, photos along with restaurants and food stands for a lunch or evening date. We saw many families playing with kids and relaxing in the open grass fields. Very family friendly.
They also have events that go on year round with live music, food tastings, holiday celebrations and more. We were there on Mother’s Day and they had a band and gave out roses to the first so many moms who entered.
I cannot wait to go back.
So during my years of fertility and trying to get pregnant I did a ton of research on how to get pregnant and things a long those lines. I never actually read about being pregnant because it was such a far off dream and so unobtainable for so long. Well now that I am pregnant I am surprised by many things. I think even if you read about it you are still surprised but every pregnancy and person are different so what I am experiencing may not be what you or anyone you know did. I am sometimes embarrassed to talk about what I am going through. Then I think to myself why? I am so open about fertility why not this so here I am back to share with you what I am going through.
Since my pregnancy is through IVF for the first 10 weeks (and weeks prior to) I had to give myself a shot every night along with taking a medication 3 times a day. These were both to ensure and help keep my baby attached to my uterus. I had bruising, lumps, bleeding and pain from the injections. I also have a terrible fear of needles so this really was a difficult thing for me. (Just as it was when I did the injections for the egg retrieval)
The next thing that surprised me was the bleeding gums. I had a regular dental cleaning scheduled early on in my pregnancy and prior to me telling the hygienist she said oh you must be pregnant. I was shocked, what? She said your gums, you have pregnancy gingivitis. Until this moment I didn’t know that was a thing. I asked what I could do and she said just keep flossing and brushing your teeth after your pregnancy the hormones will reduce and the bleeding will end. So yes I do still have the bleeding and it isn’t fun. It flares up on and off.
The exhaustion in the first trimester was very surprising. I am a very scheduled person and about 2pm everyday I really thought I was going to pass out from exhaustion in the middle of my work day. I couldn’t just have a burst of caffeine so I would just push through. So most days after my work was over I would just lay on the couch unable to do much more. This was really hard for me because I like to be on the move.
My morning sickness was not in the morning, typical for many women, so randomly I would just have to run away from what I was doing. This was hard during work and if we wanted to go out and do something. I am happy to say that in the second trimester it has subsided but still occasionally happens!
I also have sharp pains in my back in the ribs. I spoke with my doctor about it and she said I am popping out my ribs. It doesn’t happen to everyone but guess what yep me. So that is really painful but she said once they are done it will go away. Here’s to hoping that is soon!
I could go on but this is what I will share for now! I just want to say that I absolutely LOVE 100% of everyone of these. I smiled every time I threw up and I get so excited by each new symptom because after all this time it makes it real.
So to go back to the beginning of this baby’s journey….I shared with you in January I was having surgery to remove my Fallopian tubes after they were too damaged from Endometriosis. My RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist) was confident this would make the change we needed to carry our child. I was terrified because to conceive naturally you must have these tubes, this would take away any slim chance I had to conceive on our own. With my husbands support everything with the surgery went well and as of January 25 I was diagnosed sterile.
After recovering from surgery we were able to start the medication to prepare for an embryo transfer on February 14. Valentine’s day is my favorite holiday so I thought this was a great sign. We transferred our embryo on March 7 and this is a day I will never forget. It was very different then the last transfer we did (that was not successful). We were both much calmer, we were laughing in the room waiting for our procedure and the staff made us stay calm and were so excited. During the procedure I squeezed my husbands hand so hard and he was telling jokes (if you know him this is all he does) I was laughing and the doctor was also.
We could see our embryo before it was placed in the needle and could see it was already hatching out of the shell which was an amazing sign. During the first transfer I shook uncontrollably the entire time from nerves and this time I didn’t. Which made me feel so much better. It is so amazing to be able to have your partner in the room with you and we were able to see the embryo being placed into my uterus.
The next 10 days are the hardest! We didn’t take any tests at all during this time, some people do, but we wanted to wait for the definitive blood test done at the RE’s office. After the blood test I did do an at home test and it was the first time I had ever seen a positive result. I was elated and immediately called my husband at work!
If you follow me on social media you know I have some news and that is why I haven’t been posting recently. I am very excited to say that after 6+ years, many surgeries, medications, countless tests and too many shots to count we are expecting our first child! I cannot explain how amazing this is and how literally since the news it has changed me in so many ways.
I was so extremely excited but after about five minutes I was overcome with fear. Fear of what would happen next, would I be able to carry the baby long enough to birth a sweet new baby? I still have this sense of fear that can be debilitating at times. After everything we have gone through I am almost waiting for the bad news. We are now in our second trimester and all the test have shown a healthy baby. I could not be more grateful to the team of doctors who have gotten me to this point and who will continue to care for us through the next months and years to come.
Over the next months I will continue to share our journey and I will go back to the beginning and share how it all started and when we did our embryo transfer. I have enjoyed sharing our fertility struggles and all the questions I get. So many people have struggles and getting through it is scary and lonely.
I am so happy to share with you and feel free to ask questions.
I was so excited for my FabFitFun box to arrive! Every time I open a box I get so excited to try the new products and see what fun surprises are in store. The boxes have introduced me to so many brands and products that have become staples in my home.
Here’s what was in my box!
Unplug Meditation Aromatherapy Diffuser: I love the egg shape and the fun wave of light colors as it’s on. It puts off a great amount of scent throughout a large space. Currently it’s working perfect in my home office because it uses a USB plug so very portable and easy to use anywhere.
Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Facial: The smell of this cream is divine. I also love the glass container, perfect for recycling. The product is used to even out skin, repairs fine lines, moisturizes and reduces black spots/discolorations. I love a night cream because who doesn’t want to wake up with better skin. The company also really cares about the ingredients in their products.
Giadzy Copper Plated Measuring Spoons: I was so excited about these. I have been wanting new measuring spoons. I love the copper look and the quality is great. The ring is very easy to take a spoon on and off for use BUT they are hand wash only!
THE2BANDITS Athens Necklace: I have really been in to simple necklaces I can layer with others in my collection and this will fit in perfectly. The bar has an iridescent color changing piece that makes it match any outfit you could want to wear this with.
Tula Purifying Face Cleanser: Washing my face is one of my favorites parts of the morning and I am very intrigued by the use of probiotics. This is a cruelty free product and is ingredient conscious. The probiotics are said to help gently remove dirt and lock in moisture. I can’t wait to find out
Manna Kadar Champagne Body Scrub: This is a huge jar of body scrub first of all! It has charcoal and dead sea minerals to give a gently body scrub removing dead skin cells. This will give your body a refreshed skin glow.
Ouai Leave in Conditioner: The smell of this product is also amazing. The first think I always do is smell my stuff, who knows why. This is to smooth, soften, detangle hair and protect against heat damage. I am also a huge fan of Jen Atkin.
Over the next few weeks as I use the products more and more I will share additional thoughts on how they work and what I will keep using. Let me know what you are most excited about.
