As you know I am from Indiana, I want to share a great place you must visit if you are in the area. It’s a tiny little town with a lot of historic significance. Metamora, each year they do a huge Christmas village with shops, train rides and delicious food. When I was visiting my sister and I took a walk with my niece and had a blast.
The original grain mill is there and you can take a tour to learn all the historic facts about the mill. It was run on water from the canal right outside. The original canal is there and you can see how the water would turn the wheels to grind the corn. I remember taking field trips here as a child.
There are tons of shops with sweet treats, antiques and much more. We stopped in one that was overwhelmingly full of cookie jars. I had never seen anything like it. We had to get some ice cream as well, I had no problem sharing with my adorable little side kick, but I think her favorite part was feeding the ducks.
Make sure to check this place out when you are there. It’s a great place for families to enjoy some time together and learn something maybe you didn’t know.
