Focus on my overall mental & physical health by committing to 3 workouts a week minimum, being active daily, enjoying what I eat by focusing on healthy choices but not depriving myself, and taking time to allow myself to do something for me.
2. Family is my number one priority and I am going to take more time to spend with family near and far. Not allowing things to get in my way and making it happen no matter what.
3. Financial planning is something I have really been working on over the years. I have met goals in the past of paying off student loans and cars so now I want to meet with a financial planner and look to our future with a more aggressive plan to meet our family goals.
4. Support those around me the way I want to be supported. People go through a lot that no one ever knows about, we all put on a pretty picture for the world but we don’t know what is really going on. I want to give the support to my friends and family that I have needed when no one knew. I want to focus on checking in and being there no matter what.
What are your goals for the year? Share in the Comments.
So many people start setting New Year Resolutions at this time. I don’t call mine resolutions but I do set goals. I will share mine with you soon but in order to help with your goal setting lets go over a few quick ways to set goals that are actually helpful!
Set SMART Goals
Setting SMART Goals allows you to set things in place that can help you achieve your goals. Make it Specific, for example don’t say I want to lose weight or be healthy in the new year. Set a number, I want to lose 10 lbs, I want to eat better portioned meals. Things that are specific so that you can Measure them. This helps you to stay motivated and ensure you are getting closer to that goal.
Let’s not be unrealistic! Set a goal that has the ability to be Attainable and Relevant to your overall life goals and place you are in life. Having a Time Bound setting on the goals helps to keep you motivated and on track. It allows you to measure on timelines where you are and what you need to do to get back on track or push forward.
Put these SMART goals into place when you are working on your goals or resolutions for the new year! We will share our goals soon. 🙂
Happy Friday! here are some for holiday fun events in the area. If you are not local check your Facebook Events and search locally for similar things. A lot of churches, stores, kids play places, and more are doing free, socially distanced or virtual events!

There are so many more but these are a few of my favorites and Free is always my favorite!
So as promised we are doing our holiday season budget friendly! Here are my first recommendations.
Deerfield Holiday & Christmas Lights Display. This is a large neighborhood in Plano that does it big for holiday decorating. You can drive through the neighborhood to see all the fun, there are even dancing Santa’s! Weekend evenings are more crowded so plan to do a slow casual drive. I also recommend not entering the main entrance off Legacy to the area or you will be in a long line. There are a ton of other side street entrances that also allow you to see many homes that could be missed, and believe me they are great. It’s totally free, if you are feeling a little extra you can schedule a carriage ride. For more info here is their Facebook link
2. McKinney also has a great local map that you can submit your home to and people can drive around and see lights all through the area. This takes a little more planning but a lot of homes are close together, you also see all the homes with lights that didn’t submit to be on the map, we are doing different areas at a time and making a fun evening out of it. Grab your hot chocolate and enjoy the ride. The map is at the link below
3. Christmas Fest (Event was a one day thing) I saw this on Facebook as well and it was put on by Genesis Church off Virginia. I had no idea what to expect but it was so well done. There was a snow patch for kids to play in, crafts, cookies with Santa, a train ride, story time, live music, and hot chocolate. They did a wonderful job and did it safely with social distancing, masks, and sanitizing stations.
Check your local churches for events like these! Many do them and some are coming up.
Happy Friday! I honestly don’t know how it is Friday already, I feel like it’s Tuesday haha. This week has been super busy with work, appointments, following up on insurance issues from the accident, decorating for Christmas, moming, and so much more. BUT hey it’s been productive.
I am ready to celebrate the holidays budget friendly with experiences instead of things. I have been looking locally for fun events and things to do so stay tuned as I let you know what we are doing. Our girl turned 1 and I want to make the holiday special for her now that she is moving, grooving, and exploring. If you have free or budget friendly activities you do for the holiday comment below and I will share a full list with all of you!
I got our outside decorations up the other day and just started on the tree last night. I hope to have the tree done today. I actually love the simple look out front with just greenery and white lights. I am hoping to add to the lights next year and get some new lights after Christmas but we will see. We also need a new Christmas Tree, ours is ten years old, losing a lot of greenery, some lights are out, and a branch has to be re attached. I will however still make it beautiful because I am not going to buy a tree right now. 🙂 Again budget friendly this year. We have a tree and are thankful for that and like I said we will make it beautiful and I will share that once it’s finished.
Let me know your Christmas/holiday traditions and your thoughts on our front porch!
If you follow along on Instagram you know that a month ago I was in a car accident. I had just dropped my daughter off at school and 4 minutes later I was hit at an intersection by a gentleman who ran the stop sign. He was looking down the entire time and made no attempt or effort to stop. If my child had been in the car things would be very different. He hit directly where her car seat was and spun me around 180 degrees into on coming traffic. Thankfully the other vehicles were paying attention and no further damage occured.
My car was totaled, and you know that it took me years to give in and buy a new car! I left in the ambulance, but I will discuss that in a later post. I know that things can be replaced and people cannot. I am truly thankful that I am here and not further hurt. I am thankful my daughter was not in the car and that I was alone. I am thankful no other people were involved in the accident and that my vehicle was truly as safe as all the rating say.
I do however still have a lot of emotions caught up in the car itself. I worked so hard to finally say ok I will buy a new car, not just any care a brand new one the one I actually wanted! This took about 4 years of convincing. I was proud and elated to have done something for myself. It was fun to get in and drive. It was all taken away in a second because someone decided to not drive safely and be selfish. Yes you not paying full attention to driving is selfish! You take away the safety of every single person around you!
I also just kept saying “what if she was in the car” “what if I died she wouldn’t remember me” These are thoughts I now have daily and really effect some of the things I do. I am very scared in the car at all times now when I ride with someone else I flinch at everything and seriously freak out. I know in time it will get better but I just want people to be aware and safe.
I know many tragedies happen behind the wheel everyday. It’s not just our own life in our hands when we get behind the wheel!
I haven’t updated about our house happenings in awhile so here goes. We aren’t doing anything crazy but trying to focus on certain areas or needs at a time. I am waiting for some new shelves to be built and installed in some wasted space areas to make them more functional so more to come on that.
When we moved in our master bedroom was so dark. The wall color, hard wood floor, lighting, and our furniture was just a dark combo. We pained the room about a year ago, got new bedding, and I have been searching for a rug but no luck yet (yes it has been 2 years of looking lol) . Recently I finally found new curtains, not only are they black out but they truly brighten the room. You may not believe me but just look at the pics. I got the curtains on Amazon from a Instagram recommendation. When I went to purchase they were on such a good sale you could only purchase 3 so thankfully my sister also purchased three for me and sent them my way! Gotta do what you gotta do.
I also took your suggestions for the fall front porch decor. I really don’t like spending a lot of money for things to sit outside. The wind is crazy at times in Texas so things blow all over and could break or be damaged so it’s not worth it. I did choose to purchase a layering front entry rug and some mums…..don’t be shocked but the mums are dead! (If you have been following long you know that I cannot keep a plant alive!) They looked good well they lasted. I will leave the fall decor until after Thanksgiving and then switch to winter/Christmas.
I am taking suggestions for winter ideas. So comment your ideas below.
Everyone I know, including me, really doesn’t love to clean the bathroom. BUT I mean you can’t go without doing that fun task, if you do don’t invite me over lol. I love to clean actually and really clean something everyday. It helps me to relieve stress and I am a serious Type A person.
I am always trying new products or what to use for different things that work and are cheap! Cleaning our glass shower is a nightmare. ugh the water spots and build up! I use this tool every time I shower.
I got this cleaning want at Dollar Tree for yes $1. I fill it half way with blue Dawn dish soap, yes it matters that you get the blue one, then fill the other have with White Vinegar. Boom that’s it. I store it in the shower and before I hope out I scrub down the walls and floor. Easy as can be and keeps everything from building up and our glass is spotless!
Give it a try and comment what you think!
What you Need!

Masks are now a huge part of our daily lives. I had been wearing the medical masks until I found my new go tos. They fit great, feel soft, stay in place, and are pretty. How can you beat that? I keep them in my car, purse, and by the door to make sure I always have one whenever I leave the house.
I wear these daily as I take my sweet girl to and from school and anytime I have to go into a store. My husband even gave them a try and they worked great for him too. I mean you know the fabric is going to be amazing when a lingerie company is making the mask!
Head over to their site to get your handmade face mask to shop and get yours today. They are always adding new patterns and such an affordable price you don’t want to miss out!
It has been really hard for me to find time to myself. I wake up early with my sweet girl, get her ready for the day, take her to school, work all day, pick her up, dinner, bath, evening to do list, bedtime and cleaning. Then do it all again the next day. I totally love this new normal but it can be stressful and hard. I have really let myself go to the side and rarely do anything for me.
I was so excited for Cycelbar McKinney to open up after quarantine that I found a way to try it out. They offered 3 free classes and I took advantage. (If you know me I don’t pass up anything free) My husband stayed with the babe after work so I could do the 45 minute class. The first time it was rough for us both but it was honestly a really good way for him to learn and become more confident as a dad. It allowed him to figure things out without relying on me.
After the 3 free classes I signed up for 4 classes a month so I could go once a week. We have made it a great routine for us. He gets his daddy daughter time and I get a little bit of time alone to do something for myself. It has really helped. I get to relieve some stress and get my body moving.
I am not the top of the class by any means but spin/cycle is my absolute favorite workout so getting back into it has been wonderful. If you are local check them out and come ride with me!
