Happy Friday! If you follow along on Instagram then you saw that my workout yesterday really took it out of me! (You can follow me at @wynnsparksfly) It also was so much fun I would do it 100 times. The music and the moves made me feel young and fun. It was not easy at all but that’s ok. I was alone in my living room just having fun and that’s what matters. Give this video a shot. (It’s free)
The 2000s hits are so much fun and this is for all levels. Let me know if you had as much fun as I did!
This week I have been having so much fun doing dance workouts during my lunch break. Nothing crazy just 15 minutes but they really get you. My shoulders and calves are so sore. It also really helps boost my mood and takes me back to my younger dancing days.
A lot of people have been asking what videos I am doing. Well here is my tip/hack go to YouTube and search dance cardio workout or dance workout. I then look through the results for time and music or style of dance and pick what jumps out to me.
These are free and super fun. I have found several that I really like and tend to go back to. I also started following those specific accounts for additional workouts. Below are some of my favorites.
This one was tough but so fun!
This one is focused on legs!
Love this music
These are just a few. Try them and tell me what you think!
February is my favorite month for many reasons, one of them being Valentine’s Day! It is my favorite holiday. A lot of people ask me why and well it’s simple. I enjoy celebrating love!
It doesn’t have to be couples only. I love so many people in my life and I enjoy celebrating them and our relationships. Lifelong friendships that have lasted my cross country moves, family that is there no matter what, people I have met along my journey that impacted me even if for a short time, new friendships that are growing even in these crazy times, and so much more.
I don’t like when people say it’s just a made up holiday. Well are all these relationships and people you love made up? Absolutely not! Every relationship we have is for a reason, short or long. I am going to do what I can this week to celebrate them all.
You never know what just a simple message can do for someone’s day, week, month, or year! You can impact people with a simple hi, hello, how are you, I miss you, I hope you have a great day, I love you, and so much more. Take this opportunity to focus on all the love in your life no matter where it comes from.
I shared on Instagram the other day that we finally got a new bed in our Master Bedroom. This was 2 years in the making, because if you don’t know I am the cheapest person. We have moved 4 times with the previous bed and loved it, but they aren’t made to move that much. Each time it got a little worse until we moved to our current home just over two years ago.
We were asleep one night and all of a sudden we hear a huge cracking noise and our heads fall about a foot below our feet. It was hilarious but in the middle of the night not so much. One of the base pieces had cracked in half. That really should have been the moment we got a new bed, but instead I felt I could fix it. I went to Home Depot and made my own slats. It was actually really easy. That would work for a bit but every couple months we would have to take the mattress and box spring off and reset them and fix them because they weren’t actually made for the bed.
During this 2 year period I finally also gave in and got a new mattress and box spring. Our mattress was 10 years old and was the cheapest thing I could find when we bought it new so it wasn’t the greatest quality but it was never meant to last 10 years. I made it last though lol During all these moves the box spring also broke somewhere inside and was so noisy if you even took a deep breath. Looking back this is all just so funny to me.
I seriously couldn’t sleep most night because if you moved it was like a concert of noises lol
So we did it, we gave in and got a new bed. We looked at several stores but ended up back at Nebraska Furniture Mart. They have a huge selection at all price points, plus you can pick up the same day you purchase. (They do have delivery) We got ours on a close out deal and absolutely love it. It really brightened up our room by eliminating such a large piece of dark wood.
We have gotten our last several pieces at Nebraska Furniture Mart and each time has been a great experience. We recommend.
Recently we have had some big changes around here. Our work schedules are a little different now that my husbands work location has changed. His commute is longer so that cuts into even more time. It’s leaving me a little stressed out, I feel like now so much more is on my shoulders that he was doing to help us.
I am so much more exhausted by the end of the day now, I have no clue how single parents to it. I give them so much applause. We also don’t have family near by to help out either. Don’t get me wrong I love every second of being a mom and I still tear up looking at her and remembering all the work that went into creating this little miracle. But back to topic….There is so much that happens in a day, so here is my current run down. Keep in mind this in only day 3 so we are still working it out.
5am-6am Baby and Mama wake up
6am-7am Getting baby ready, Mama and Dada also getting ready, packing lunches, playing trying to keep her happy while multi tasking
7am-7:45am Taking Babe to school and getting back home
7:45am-4:30pm Work (yes I have a full time job, I work from home but it’s a full day just like in an office) When I get a moment for a break I try to do laundry, vacuum, empty the dish washer, take care of the dogs, find a moment to eat, and attempt to pick anything up.
4:30pm-5:30pm Pick up Babe and get back home to start dinner
5:30pm-7:00pm Cook dinner, play, eat dinner, play, Dada comes home, play, eat, play, and get ready for bedtime.
7:00pm-9:00pm Put babe to bed, dishes, clean up kitchen, laundry, put things away, take care of dogs, try to take a moment for myself/sit, maybe have an adult conversation and the pass out to do it all again.
REPEAT. I am tired just typing that lol I am thankful for our lives and support our decisions but sometimes I feel very judged and like I haven’t done enough. There is always so much left to do and so much I feel like I should have done. I feel like no matter what I do I have failed at something. I am hoping as time goes on I adjust a little better and can get a moment to feel ok.
We all need to have a little grace with each other and not put this crazy pressure. I look at others and think man how did they do that, they make it look easy. I have no clue what they really go through so I shouldn’t compare. We all have our struggles and right now this is one of mine. Fingers Crossed I rest up tonight!
Focus on my overall mental & physical health by committing to 3 workouts a week minimum, being active daily, enjoying what I eat by focusing on healthy choices but not depriving myself, and taking time to allow myself to do something for me.
2. Family is my number one priority and I am going to take more time to spend with family near and far. Not allowing things to get in my way and making it happen no matter what.
3. Financial planning is something I have really been working on over the years. I have met goals in the past of paying off student loans and cars so now I want to meet with a financial planner and look to our future with a more aggressive plan to meet our family goals.
4. Support those around me the way I want to be supported. People go through a lot that no one ever knows about, we all put on a pretty picture for the world but we don’t know what is really going on. I want to give the support to my friends and family that I have needed when no one knew. I want to focus on checking in and being there no matter what.
What are your goals for the year? Share in the Comments.
So many people start setting New Year Resolutions at this time. I don’t call mine resolutions but I do set goals. I will share mine with you soon but in order to help with your goal setting lets go over a few quick ways to set goals that are actually helpful!
Set SMART Goals
Setting SMART Goals allows you to set things in place that can help you achieve your goals. Make it Specific, for example don’t say I want to lose weight or be healthy in the new year. Set a number, I want to lose 10 lbs, I want to eat better portioned meals. Things that are specific so that you can Measure them. This helps you to stay motivated and ensure you are getting closer to that goal.
Let’s not be unrealistic! Set a goal that has the ability to be Attainable and Relevant to your overall life goals and place you are in life. Having a Time Bound setting on the goals helps to keep you motivated and on track. It allows you to measure on timelines where you are and what you need to do to get back on track or push forward.
Put these SMART goals into place when you are working on your goals or resolutions for the new year! We will share our goals soon. 🙂
Happy Friday! here are some for holiday fun events in the area. If you are not local check your Facebook Events and search locally for similar things. A lot of churches, stores, kids play places, and more are doing free, socially distanced or virtual events!

There are so many more but these are a few of my favorites and Free is always my favorite!
So as promised we are doing our holiday season budget friendly! Here are my first recommendations.
Deerfield Holiday & Christmas Lights Display. This is a large neighborhood in Plano that does it big for holiday decorating. You can drive through the neighborhood to see all the fun, there are even dancing Santa’s! Weekend evenings are more crowded so plan to do a slow casual drive. I also recommend not entering the main entrance off Legacy to the area or you will be in a long line. There are a ton of other side street entrances that also allow you to see many homes that could be missed, and believe me they are great. It’s totally free, if you are feeling a little extra you can schedule a carriage ride. For more info here is their Facebook link
2. McKinney also has a great local map that you can submit your home to and people can drive around and see lights all through the area. This takes a little more planning but a lot of homes are close together, you also see all the homes with lights that didn’t submit to be on the map, we are doing different areas at a time and making a fun evening out of it. Grab your hot chocolate and enjoy the ride. The map is at the link below
3. Christmas Fest (Event was a one day thing) I saw this on Facebook as well and it was put on by Genesis Church off Virginia. I had no idea what to expect but it was so well done. There was a snow patch for kids to play in, crafts, cookies with Santa, a train ride, story time, live music, and hot chocolate. They did a wonderful job and did it safely with social distancing, masks, and sanitizing stations.
Check your local churches for events like these! Many do them and some are coming up.
Happy Friday! I honestly don’t know how it is Friday already, I feel like it’s Tuesday haha. This week has been super busy with work, appointments, following up on insurance issues from the accident, decorating for Christmas, moming, and so much more. BUT hey it’s been productive.
I am ready to celebrate the holidays budget friendly with experiences instead of things. I have been looking locally for fun events and things to do so stay tuned as I let you know what we are doing. Our girl turned 1 and I want to make the holiday special for her now that she is moving, grooving, and exploring. If you have free or budget friendly activities you do for the holiday comment below and I will share a full list with all of you!
I got our outside decorations up the other day and just started on the tree last night. I hope to have the tree done today. I actually love the simple look out front with just greenery and white lights. I am hoping to add to the lights next year and get some new lights after Christmas but we will see. We also need a new Christmas Tree, ours is ten years old, losing a lot of greenery, some lights are out, and a branch has to be re attached. I will however still make it beautiful because I am not going to buy a tree right now. 🙂 Again budget friendly this year. We have a tree and are thankful for that and like I said we will make it beautiful and I will share that once it’s finished.
Let me know your Christmas/holiday traditions and your thoughts on our front porch!
