Pregnancy Struggles

What I am about to share may not be popular or what I “should” say or feel but I don’t care. I can’t be the only one who has had these feelings. Through years of struggling to get pregnant, countless surgeries, and more mental pain then I can begin to explain this is one of the most amazing times in my life. That doesn’t mean that it hasn’t come with it’s own set of struggles.

I have felt like due to this I wasn’t allowed to complain or have negative thoughts, my husband told me that wasn’t true, that after all of it I could complain all I wanted. I appreciate that since he gets the brunt of it. However I am still very self conscious.

The weight gain has been something very difficult for me to handle. I absolutely love my belly and the way it is growing and changing. However it isn’t the only thing getting bigger! My legs have really grown and it’s just been hard for me to deal with. The number on the scale at each appointment gives me more anxiety and stress. The doctors say the number is just fine and I look great. That isn’t what this is about, I don’t need other people to tell me I look great. It’s about me and how I feel and unfortunately it’s been so hard for me and something I wasn’t ready for.

I am very thankful to work from home during this because when I do leave the house, even if it’s just for a walk, I get very nervous and anxious about finding something to wear. I need something that is comfortable, fits, doesn’t make me look wide, keeps my bell covered, breathes and so much more. Looking in my closet is such a difficult experience. I normally just wear the same couple pairs of shorts and few tank tops or t shirts. When I do go out there are normally tears and about 100 outfit changes but I do still go out so that is a positive.

This pregnancy is truly a miracle and feeling her move and grow is amazing. I am very thankful she is healthy and will be here so soon but until then I am having a hard time. I am dealing with it each day and trying my best to stay healthy and be confident in who I am. This is the journey I am on and it’s ok that I have hard days and that I feel this way. It’s also ok if you have been there too.

The Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney

The other weekend I stumbled upon the prettiest little park in McKinney, TX. The park is 7.2 acres and located at 6452 Collin McKinney Pkwy. There is a small parking lot and a gorgeous entry sign to the paved trails that take you through many different varieties of Crape Myrtles.

It isn’t exactly peek season for the blooms but even with that it was beautiful. There are great signs that explain what you are looking at and more about the plants/trees. There are picnic tables and benches for families and people to take a seat and enjoy the view.

To me this is a hidden gem of McKinney that everyone needs to see, not to mention the photo opportunities that are available here! Enjoy some time just enjoying nature and learning more about these wonderful trees.

There is also a Crape Myrtle Trails Foundations that has partnered with the City of McKinney to plant thousands of Crape Myrtles in the median and more. I get to enjoy these year round because I live just off Eldorado Parkway and that is where a majority are planted.

House Happenings

I have had this dresser since my first apartment out of college. I purchased it at Goodwill for $25.00. Perfect for the situation and fresh out of college life. Well now it hasn’t been used much and doesn’t match anything we have, but it has moved countless times and offers a great amount of storage. With baby on the way it was the perfect time to refinish it and save some money buying furniture.

I took one weekend to remove the hardware, sand the drawers and paint them. I haven’t ever done a piece of furniture before so I thought it was safe to try it out on the drawers, smaller surface to fix if I messed up. They turned out pretty great so the next weekend I did the dresser unit itself.

I cannot tell you enough how much I do not like sanding! I did it all by hand and ugh was it exhausting. BUT worth it in the end.

After

After the painting was done I got new hardware to add some personality. The top round crystal pulls are from HomeGoods and are Rachel Roy brand, the silver long ones are from Lowe’s. I think they compliment each other and look great but not too flashy. The different colors in her room reflect in the crystals and it looks so sweet.

I could not be happier with how it turned out and saved some money we can use on other items for the baby!

Fun Facts

I love reading magazines and sharing the fun facts I find inside so here are some recent ones I found interesting.

Probiotics are just so great and for everyone with anxiety (like me) here is another wonderful benefit of them!

IMG_6358

As if there wasn’t already enough reason to eat whole foods the increased calorie burn for people on the weight loss journey will get double the benefits!

I have been using vitamin C for a while now and I can really see a difference, knowing that it is best to put on during the day and your retinal cream at night is a great tip.

Pregnancy Activity

I know there is so much judgement in pregnancy, motherhood and just being a women in general. BUT guess what I don’t care. I am sharing my journey and part of that is staying active and working out while pregnant. I want to share what I have been doing to stay active.

**Everything I do is approved by my doctor, every pregnancy and person is different so always speak directly to your doctor**

I do a lot of walks, I try to do at least 4 a week about 1.5 miles each. It has been very hot in Texas lately so the walks can be a little more difficult to complete outside. The heat has really effected me, it slows me down and causes me to need to stop faster than normal. That is totally ok. I listen to my body and always have water with me.

I have done 28 days of Barre3. Barre is a combination of dance, pilates, yoga and muscle isolation that is a great low impact workout that everyone should try. It offers a lot of modifications for every level including pregnancy.

I am currently doing a 30 day push up challenge and focusing on weight training. Mixing it up and keeping it challenging on my body is helping me to stay active and motivated through this journey.

My focus is keeping my breathing strong and my body in the best shape I can so my delivery and postpartum go smoothly.

House Happenings

Lately I have been in full nesting mode in our house. We have been getting so many projects done, small and large. It feels great to get them done but it also makes my list just keep growing somehow and the projects seem to get larger. Many of which are long term projects that we won’t even tackle any time soon.

We painted the baby’s room. I chose to go with grey on two walls and white on the other two. It gives the room dimension but keeps it light and will allow all of our decor to really shine through. I am excited to start getting the bigger furniture items and begin to put her room together a little at a time.

We also painted our master bedroom. It was a tan color and just was dingy so we used the same grey and did a navy blue accent wall, we love the way it turned out and it really lightened the room.

Our landscaping got a refresh by pulling out a lot of plants that the previous owner had just over planted in many areas so nothing looked great, new mulch, new edging, leaves removed and bushes trimmed. It really does look 100% better and our curb appeal is upped.

I also took a day to scrub all of the doors in the house. This may sound silly but they look so much better. The oil from our hands, dirt, dust and dog hair really do build up on the doors and trim before you know it. After doing this the doors & trim really look so much better and brighter. I also spot cleaned the walls which makes a huge difference if your paint is looking dingy and you don’t want to repaint everything in your house.

I have also done little things like hang up some items that have just been sitting around, put up new outlet covers and deep cleaned our bedrooms.

There are still more projects that are upcoming but I feel really good about where we are and where things are headed.

Barre 3

July 1 I started a 28 day #barre3anywhere challenge put on by Barre3. This is a nation wide Barre studio that offers online classes as well so you can do them anywhere even if a location isn’t convenient for you. This  28 day challenge involved 6 videos a week and one rest day. The videos ranged in length from 10 minutes to 30 minutes but don’t let that 10 minute number fool you, some of those were the hardest and left me really feeling the shake.

You can really do them anywhere. I did most of the videos on my lunch break in our living room. It was a great break from the computer and re-energized me for the rest of the day.

There are so many variations that no matter what your level or injury status is so you can do these workouts. I did have to do variations since I am pregnant and as the bump grew through the month some of the positions did get a little tricky. It was great to really work on my lower back and leg strength. You can add weights for added strength training for your arms as well.

Check out their website to see if there is a location near you and if not you can sign up for a free online trial and you can do these workouts anywhere. There is no excuse to not give it a try and see the transformation you can make in a short period of time.
