Cleaning Trick

Everyone I know, including me, really doesn’t love to clean the bathroom. BUT I mean you can’t go without doing that fun task, if you do don’t invite me over lol. I love to clean actually and really clean something everyday. It helps me to relieve stress and I am a serious Type A person.

I am always trying new products or what to use for different things that work and are cheap! Cleaning our glass shower is a nightmare. ugh the water spots and build up! I use this tool every time I shower.

I got this cleaning want at Dollar Tree for yes $1. I fill it half way with blue Dawn dish soap, yes it matters that you get the blue one, then fill the other have with White Vinegar. Boom that’s it. I store it in the shower and before I hope out I scrub down the walls and floor. Easy as can be and keeps everything from building up and our glass is spotless!

Give it a try and comment what you think!

What you Need!

1 cleaning wand with fillable handle (Dollar Tree)

Fill:

*1/2 with Blue Dawn Dish Detergent

*1/2 White Vinegar

Masks

Masks are now a huge part of our daily lives. I had been wearing the medical masks until I found my new go tos. They fit great, feel soft, stay in place, and are pretty. How can you beat that? I keep them in my car, purse, and by the door to make sure I always have one whenever I leave the house.

I wear these daily as I take my sweet girl to and from school and anytime I have to go into a store. My husband even gave them a try and they worked great for him too. I mean you know the fabric is going to be amazing when a lingerie company is making the mask!

Head over to their site to get your handmade face mask to shop and get yours today. They are always adding new patterns and such an affordable price you don’t want to miss out!

Me Time

It has been really hard for me to find time to myself. I wake up early with my sweet girl, get her ready for the day, take her to school, work all day, pick her up, dinner, bath, evening to do list, bedtime and cleaning. Then do it all again the next day. I totally love this new normal but it can be stressful and hard. I have really let myself go to the side and rarely do anything for me.

I was so excited for Cycelbar McKinney to open up after quarantine that I found a way to try it out. They offered 3 free classes and I took advantage. (If you know me I don’t pass up anything free) My husband stayed with the babe after work so I could do the 45 minute class. The first time it was rough for us both but it was honestly a really good way for him to learn and become more confident as a dad. It allowed him to figure things out without relying on me.

After the 3 free classes I signed up for 4 classes a month so I could go once a week. We have made it a great routine for us. He gets his daddy daughter time and I get a little bit of time alone to do something for myself. It has really helped. I get to relieve some stress and get my body moving.

I am not the top of the class by any means but spin/cycle is my absolute favorite workout so getting back into it has been wonderful. If you are local check them out and come ride with me!

Sunatoria Black Mask

So much has been happening and I have been neglecting my blog. I can hardly find time in the day to shower so actually sitting down to write anything longer than a text is hard. I LOVE being a mom and worked so hard to become one that I truly let everything else go. Even some house work. I know people find that shocking but I only clean after she goes to bed or naps.

The reason I am here is to share this great face mask with you. I feel like I have huge pores and I do everything I can to minimize them and keep them clean. This Black Mask is charcoal based and peels off. It comes with an applicator (score!) I tried it this week and it peeled off easy and I could see it cleaning out my pores. My skin looked even and so clear and still days 3 days later. You should use the mask 2-3 times a week and after cleansing your face with warm water to open the pores for best results.

You can get it on Amazon for a steel so check it out and let me know if you love it like I do!

Seriously guys try this mask!

House Happenings

We have done some major changes recently. We repainted the dining room, office, upstairs hallway, and entry way. We also had the baseboards in the entire downstairs replaced!

We changed out the colors because the tan just made everything too dark. The color didn’t work well with the lighting and flow of the house. We did grey and white and it truly changed everything about the light in the house.

The baseboards were such a mess when we moved in. The previous own thought he could DIY and he could not. 🙂 The baseboards didn’t touch the ground so that gap was very annoying to me and held dirt and dog hair. They also were only primed not painted and the nail holes were not filled either, several areas were different shades of white primer as well. Many were chewed up by their dogs also, such a mess to say the least. I feel so much better now.

I did the painting of the dining room, hallway, and office. We had Sticks and Stones Remodeling do the entryway painting and replacing all the baseboards. They did a wonderful job. Very professional and excellent work. They were also very fast. We highly recommend to anyone in the local area!

Walking It Off

Walking postpartum has really been such a blessing for me. I haven’t been able to consistently find the time yet for workouts so being able to walk with the babe has been keeping me active and getting us both outside. (She loves to be outside)

I try to do 2 miles a day but that is getting very difficult with the Texas heat. She is not a fan and is very hot blooded, we have a fan but it’s not enough. I have to find a time when the temp isn’t too crazy and then it’s as far as we can go, usually just over a mile.

With this goal in mind it has still be so great for my physical and mental health to continue to walk every day. It allows me to feel like I am moving my body and gives me time away from the long to do list that never ends at the house.

Benefits of Walking (A prior post)

Studies show that walking 30 minutes a day can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke by up to 27%. I will take all the help I can get so lets go! Walking uses your entire body and improves circulation which helps control blood pressure and cholesterol. If you are walking outside you will also enjoy the Vitamin D.

Walking is low impact and easy on your joints. You can walk your neighborhood, beach, country side or anywhere at all. Pop in some head phones and enjoy your favorite music and take some me time.

Walking with me is almost like a run, BUT I do NOT run! I walk very fast and with a purpose. You don’t have to do this but it is kinda fun. In the nice weather I take my lunch break and walk around the office buildings, this is an easy way to take a break from work and get in that 30 minutes. It doesn’t have to be hard, make it enjoyable take your kids, pets, family or just go on you own.

Additional benefits are improving your mood, balance, strengthening your bones and muscles. Take advantage of this full body exercise and start with a fun way to begin your healthy lifestyle.

Products I am Loving

I am going to share some of the fabulous products I have been using lately that I am loving.

Vitamin C

This stuff is great because it is a powder and you can just add a little bit to your moisturizer or products you are already using. This small container lasts a really long time because you don’t need much just a little shake.

Collagen Cream

I love this brand and have talked about other products they have. This is another great one. The smell, texture, and packaging is great. I noticed a difference in my skin after just 2 days of using this. I use it once a day but you can put it on morning and night. (I do morning) This packaging is one of my all time favorites because you can ensure you use all of the product with the clear bottles and tubes. (All of theirs are like this!)

Clay Mask

The Generation Clay mask is one that I love. The clay trend is something we see everywhere now and I have used several but this one is perfect for my skin. The texture is easy to spread and not to thick or heavy. It dries quickly and rinses off easily, leaving my skin smooth and rejuvenated.

Breastfeeding & Pumping

Breastfeeding can be such a daunting thing to so many people and pressure to do so is everywhere. Weather you choose to or not is totally up to you! It was a goal of mine to breastfeed and I was very nervous if I would be successful.

I am happy to say I am. It was not easy and I had to push through pain, bleeding. blisters, blebs, clogged ducts, mastitis and more. What women can do is amazing. In the hospital my baby only wanted to latch to one side, so yes I am lopsided, after working with a lactation consultant we determined that using a guard worked beast. She latched right away and I used it from then on (both sides). I really think this also helped with adding in the bottle because she was already used to the texture and it wasn’t a new or shocking change.

After my milk came in and I was about 6 weeks postpartum I started pumping to build up my stash for daycare while I was back to work. It started out slow and not much came out. I was so upset but just like with breastfeeding you have to push through. Your body is learning something new and it takes time to adapt. Not long after pumping on a regular schedule was I able to fill the bottles in 12 minutes or less.

IMG_8726

I would pump the opposite side while she ate. This saved time and allowed me to build my stash while not adding in another time commitment during the day. While I work I pump 3 times to keep the supply going because she is still exclusively breastfeeding with some table food.

How I freeze and Store

  1. I pump and then pour it into the storage bags, I do not have a bag preference all have worked just fine for me. I fill each bag up to the full 6 ounces. I do this because it takes up less space, saves bags and is easy to thaw and use knowing they are all the same. I don’t have to pick and choose what I need.
  2. I seal and re-seal the bag several times and lay it flat in the freezer.
  3. Once the milk is frozen I stand the bag up in a storage bin. I place them in order in the bin with the oldest up front and each new one behind.
  4. I keep each filled bin in our freezer in the garage. (I honestly don’t know what I would do if we didn’t have the extra freezer)
  5. I only keep one bin in the freezer in our kitchen. This is the bin of oldest milk and what I use to thaw and feed her with when she needs a bottle.

This has been what has worked best for us and kept things organized and moving for use.

Maternity Leave

I want to talk about my Maternity leave. It has been over since the end of February but I am just now finding time. Time is something that is very rare now a days 🙂

I felt like it flew by! Everyday was a new learning curve and trying to figure each other out. We had 3 major holidays during this time as well.

We came home from the hospital on Thanksgiving Day. My amazing family was here and prepared a traditional meal, which is my favorite thing! It was definitely an experience. I hadn’t eaten in days, recovering from a c-section and had a tiny baby. It was the first time I ate using my left hand and holding my babe in the other. I was not so good at it, now I am expert level! Little things like that people don’t tell you to practice. lol

IMG_7293

I know she will never remember her first Christmas but I wanted to make it an experience anyway! We still put up our tree and did minimal decorating, mostly because she never napped so putting up decorations was not entertaining to her. She LOVED looking at the lights on the tree. We also participated in the local holiday activities by going on walks or driving through neighborhoods looking at lights. It was a great way to learn how to get out of the house and adjust to having a baby with us. While we didn’t go and see Santa my husband obliged my crazy and dressed up in a Santa suite for photos on Christmas Day!

Most days were spent feeding, changing diapers, doing laundry and trying to remember to go to the bathroom and eat myself. Before I knew it, it would be dark out! I miss this time so much. 12 weeks is just not enough to learn each other!

After our pediatrician gave us the all clear I looked up the story times at the libraries and kids places near by. This was a great way for us to get out and interact with other people. She loved the music and colors. I also loved getting this one on one time where I wasn’t in our living room. It was a wonderful way to learn the local kids/baby places and all they have to offer. I now have a list of places for when she is older to participate for other fun activities. We also started the Read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten at the Allen Public Library. So fun and a great way to spend time together.

My husband also surprised us with our first family vacation, I will talk about this in another post.

Important Things to make sure you do during this time

  1. Get A copy of the Birth Certificate
  2. Add baby to insurance plans
  3. CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK THESE
  4. Add baby as a beneficiary on any accounts you would like
  5. Start a file for their important paperwork

I mention this stuff because I spent a lot of time making calls and ensuring this was all done, because several things take multiple calls or submitals of paperwork and you don’t wan’t anything to be missing.

I envy every mom who had more time with their little one and I am thankful for the time I had. Being a Full Time Working Mom is HARD WORK, physically and emotionally. Judgement needs to stop for everyone and the comments people have made to me are shocking and none of their business. You do what works for you!
